4th Grade Goes Coding at Microsoft

After Microsoft trained our OHE staff in August's staff development, it was time for the kids to go onsite in the Domain location and do hands on coding.
Every class at OHE will be participating in the Hour of Code. To familiarize yourself more and to get more practice, visit http://www.code.org

Here's a few pics of their experience:

AUSTIN JAZZ WORKSHOP

While students listened to the jazz performance, they learned facts about the composers, songs, and music through a PowerPoint presentation.

Did you know you can save each slide in a PowerPoint as a jpeg? Check out your options under the SAVE AS menu and select jpeg as the file type. This would be useful whenever you need a picture of one of your slides to use outside your PowerPoint.

OSMO

Did you know that some 2nd grade and 1st grade classes are using Osmo thanks Donors Choose?

Osmo is a iPad gaming system that allows hand-on play with activities involving drawings coming to life, coding, tangrams, words, newton laws, and art. Check out https://www.playosmo.com and explore possibilities.

Here is a second grade class in action...
